Myocarditis is a rare inflammation of the heart muscle that typically occurs in conjunction with other diseases such as Lyme Disease, Parvovirus, distemper, and some fungal and protozoan infections (Eldredge, et. al., 2007). It is rarely seen today because of precautions taken to immunize pets from these dangerous types of diseases.
